SURF - Silent Uninterrupted Reading for Fifteen minutes a day with a journal response.
MUG - Mechanics Usage and Grammar daily skills.
8th Grade Honors will be reading "Johnny Tremain" for the 2nd Quarter. After reading the book, we will complete this webquest.
4th Quarter
This quarter we will be reading "Across Five Aprils" by Irene Hunt. This novel is a historical fiction about the Civil War. We will also be completing a project to enhance research skills this quarter. Each student will document their family genealogy to the time of the Civil War and then write a brief biography on a family member who lived during that time period. The project will culminate with a speech presentation of the findings. Speeches are due on May 16.
In the text students will be reading Chapter 11 on research papers, Chapter 17 and 18 on prepositions, conjunctions and interjections. Additionally we will preview diagramming sentences.
Students will complete Wordly Wise lessons 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16.
